Events 2008

So far for the 2008 season we have the following events in the Diary

Nurburgring - May 10th - 13th

Following last years trip we will again be heading over to the infamous Nurburgring Nordschleife in 2008! This is a must for any serious petrolhead and the experience is well suited to the Megane with the long cruise over to Germany and the epic 170 corners and 12.9 miles that is "The Green Hell". The days are filled with lapping in your own car or grabbing passenger laps in other cars and drooling over the massive array of automotive delights that frequent the 'ring. The nights are spent in the local restaurants and pubs swapping tales from the (always eventful) day. Truly an experience that will stay with you your whole life. World Series by Renault 7th & 8th June - Silverstone

The Annual WSR meeting is becoming ever more popular and is a great opportunity to get to know other members. Its now traditional for everyone to camp over at this event an generally drink too much/have a campsite rave. For day trippers its also an ideal family day out as Renault provide free entertainment including a funfair!

FCS - French Car Show 22nd June

This is our traditional club national day. We always say if you only come to one event the whole year please do your best to make it this one! The club was in a way born at the FCS as it was the first meeting attended by meganesport.net with one single megane 225...mine! The following year we had over 30 cars then in 2007 we had over 60. 2008 looks to be getting close to 100 the way things are going. There are the usual trade stands and club displays (ours this year is set to be very special!) you can also get your car out on track on our own dedicated track sessions. This year we will also be having a show and shine competition and raffle. The preceding Saturday night will no doubt involve some pub based activities.

On your Marks Charity Day 10th August Bruntingthorpe Proving Ground

In association with Asda and the Make a wish foundation this is an activity packed day out particularly suitable for families. Last years event featured a funfair, Russ Swift driving demo, Go Karting and lot more. Details for the 2008 will be added when we have them. Passenger rides in various cars including our members cars are available on the day in exchange for a charitable donation.

September 15th - Renaultsport factory visit - Dieppe

This is a very limited chance to visit the Renaultsport factory in Dieppe to see the production lines and also to have a drive round some of the fantastic local roads. Only 100 people a year get access to this facility and we have secured 40 places. Deadline to book this event is 23rd January.

Other Events

Other events for 2008 will include:

 a meganesport.net trackday which will be our first dedicated track day

Proving day at Bruntigthorpe with the Alpine Owners Club - Dates TBC this is a day spent doing times 0-60 runs, Vmax and a handling circuit to find who has the best megane in the uk!
