Megane R26-R Finally breaks cover...

This image is supposedly of the new R26-R megane or "ultimate" as it was unofficially nicknamed. The article in this Months Evo magazine quotes a marginally increased power output of 227BHP and some of the details we published previously such as polycarbonate windows and a rollcage on the options list. The article also states that the car will be officially be unveiled at the British motor show in July not the Paris motorshow as was previously thought. Evo stress that the above image is not necessarily how the production version will look. Interestingly the retail price is quoted at a whopping £24,000 taking Renault into VAG terratory in terms of pricing. Our enquiries however revealed that you cant get an S3 with carbon bits and a rollcage!
We have yet to have any official word on the forthcoming model and as such we can only speculate at the accuracy of both the Evo article above and other snippets of information that have made it out onto some other sites.

MEGANE "ULTIMATE" ON THE WAY
The rumours have been going round for a couple of months now but we're finally getting what we believe is some solid information on the flagship Megane Sport model which will finish off the range prior to the new model's 2009 Arrival.
Basic details we have gathered from various sources:
Revised power output of 255 BHP
7150 rpm Redline
335 NM of tourque
Reduced kerb weight of 1295kgs (Carbon Roof, thinner glass (polycarb rear windows)
Revised wheel which will be available in red or black
Two Seater ie no rear seats fitted and fitted with carbon shelled bucket seats
Carbon Bonnet
Shorter Gearing helping 0-60 appear in 5.7 seconds
Short throw gear lever
Wider 255/35 Tyres
Revised Variable Assist Steering
Steering wheel with no cruise control buttons
100% removable ESP
Roll cage available as an option
R Compound tyres available as an option
Lighter (thinner) Exhaust system with option of a Titanium exhaust
We await pictures and final specification with baited Breath! The Car is to debut at the Paris Motor Show later this year. As soon as more information becomes available we will let you know!

2008 Events
2008 is set to be our best ever year with a host of events already planned. See the events link on the left hand side of the page for more in depth information. A Brief rundown of the events calendar is as follows:

Proving day at Bruntigthorpe with the Alpine Owners Club - Dates TBC this is a day spent doing times 0-60 runs, Vmax and a handling circuit to find who has the best megane in the uk!

2007 - Thank
you!
Well we are now winding down after the busy year 2007 has been! This year has
seen our best attended shows over the summer, our first organised trip to the
Nurburgring and the forums going from strength to strength. The huge success of
the R26, Megane GT and RS DCI models has really been felt this year!
On behalf of the admin team I'd like to thank all our members old and new for a
great year and we look forward to a very busy 2008.
Still to come this year we have our Christmas party which has be come so big
that Renaultsport UK are also attending and sending photographers to cover the
event!

Well it had to happen. After years of lobbying Renault we have finally got a
white paint option on the Megane R26! Opinions have been divided on the
forums but
whichever side of the fence your sat on there's sure to be high numbers of them
flying out of Renault dealerships up and down the UK.
Renault ups the
ante with the wildest megane yet!
Renault have just released details of the wildest megane to date in the form of
the "Megane Renaultsport 230 Renault F1 Team R26" to give the car its full
title. Essentially a rework of the current phase 2 cup chassis model the key
difference is the introduction of a Limited slip differential (LSD). The LSD
should give the megane much improved grip and allow the car to get more of its
now 230 (up 5 bhp on the standard cup) BHP on the road as well as significantly
improving the cars on track performance. The R26 also comes with red coloured
Brembo 4 pot brakes and optional graphics set. The liquid gold colour option as
shown above is also available at an eye watering additional cost of £1200! MRP
of the car pre options is £19,570 a £900 premium on top of the regular cup model
which given the LSD is quite a bargain we think!

meganesport.net gears up for
the show season 2007!
Well the nights are starting to get lighter, it can mean only one thing! Summer
will be here before you know it and meganesport.net will be attending our third
French Car Show (http://www.frenchcarshow.co.uk/fcs07/) This year the organisers
have moved from the traditional Bruntigthorpe home to the Rockingham Race
Circuit in Corby, Northants. Last years show was a huge success for the club
with 48 cars in attendance. This year we hope to beat that record and invite all
members to join us for the Clubs official national day at this years show. The
show is on July 15th but you need to book your tickets ASAP to guarantee stand
space on the official club stand within the main showground. Stand space is Free
to all members, contact Dave Lee our events co-ordinator via the forums to get
your tickets!
We will also be attending other shows over the summer as well as a trip to
Germanys infamous Nurburgring (Again see the forums for full details)

French Car show 2006 - A Huge
success for the club
As previously advertised on the site we attended this years French car show at
Bruntigthorpe Airfield in Leicester on May the 28th. It was by far the clubs
biggest attended event yet with 48 cars on our stand! See this page of the
gallery for photos from the day.
Our Next major event will be Trax at Silverstone on Sunday September 3rd. Check
out the meetings section on the forums for ticket details.
In addition we are are also organising a Front wheel drive turbo challenge day
at the 1/4 mile strip in York for the 24th September where we hope to get a
selection of fast Meganes, Focus' and Astras for a friendly head to head. Again
details can be found in the meetings and events section of the forums.

All go for the megane 225!
As well as the release of the new phase 2 of the megane 2 range 2006 will see
the release of the "F1 Team" variant of the 225. As we reported earlier in the
year this model will come with sports seats, mp3 player and sports suspension.

Renault have recently announced that the current megane 2 is to be face lifted
bringing into line with the new Clio and Laguna models. Here are some pics of

New Megane 225 variants on
the way?
Rumours are rife at the moment of a new 225 variant set to arrive Early in 2006.
Inspired by Renault's recent F1 success the "Megane Sport F1 Team" will feature
Recaro seats,mp3 player Anthracite Wheels, Sport suspension and be in the racing
blue colour. The car will also feature some kind of F1 related livery. We will
get more information on this as soon as possible!

Oil Burning renaultsport?
More rumours are also circulating at the moment that we may be in for a diesel
version of the Renaultsport Megane. Very little is known about this at the
moment but a french video has surfaced appearing to show a Renaulsport Megane
but hiding a very different engine under the bonnet. Click here to see the video

meganesport.net and RS Tuning announce new performance ECU upgrade for 225
This week saw final testing and a rolling road session for Leeds based chip
tuning specialists RS Tuning's new ECU upgrade for the megane 225.
Believed to be the first 225 ECU upgrade retailed in the UK, the remap ups
boosts turbo pressure to 15PSI and power goes from 222BHP to 267BHP and an
additional 35lb of torque!

September saw our first ever club meeting! We attended the Trax show at
silverstone GP circuit. We had 8 cars in attendance and it was a great day. One
brave member even ventured on the track in the 225. Pictures of the day can be

EVO Magazine takes delivery of the Megane 225 Trophy for their "Fast Fleet"
feature. The same car that Fernando Alonzo drove round Monaco as a feature of
last Months French GP. We will be watching with interest what they have to say.
