Started the prep on the Clio ready for start of season inspection at the end of Feb.
Have dumped the standard recirculating breather system and replaced it with a proper catch tank setup for engine and gearbox, mainly to reduce inducted oil mist and the issues that brings.
Gearbox oil cooling components have been decided on and will be ordered on Wednesday, the Sadev sequential box really needs cooling for endurance use (Clio cup races are only circa 15 mins), oil cooling setup is very simple, single point scavenge and single point return with Mocal 13 row oil cooler mounted on the front crossmember next to the rad. Oil is scavenged and pumped back to the box via a Tilton 12V oil pump.
Filter was an interesting one, standard Cup runs a Clio V6 airbox in place of the battery..... however the inlet for it is about 20mm away from the back of the headlight and as such flow is limited, I suspect by design to put a cap on max air induction capacity as Renault are very tight on what people have done to the air box etc. in the Clio Cup................. we don't have those regs though
Much better ;-) Heats not an issue as that area of the bay is as cool as it gets, we may whack a NACA duct in the bonnet if the data logging indicates any issues. The plan is to duct an air feed into the filter area from the high pressure zone in the wheel arch so flow should be more than adequote.
Cheers
