Well following on from other threads there seems to be a few of us with steering issues seemingly caused by hub bearings.
So what I am after is a list of people who have experienced problems, car year and mileage.
I hope to use this as ammunition when i speak to RUK very soon, i want them to admit that its a design flaw and pay towards repairs. I know it might be a long shot but its worth a try.
mine has just started to make noise n/s hub creaking 225 05 43k, damn renaults!!! im going to strip it down and grease it up and see if that will do the job, will let you know how i get on.
My car is a 08/57 175 with almost 70k miles. it was pulling to the left and right really bad about 6 months ago. The problem seems to have went away but the steering is off centre. It was in a local garage the other day and the mechanic described a part that was all rusty. I mentioned the seized hub bearing problem I had read about on here and he said it's the same part.he though the rust had set in to much to be worth greasing up and that I should replace it. He also said that my steering rack has some play. This part was replaced under warranty by the stealers less than a year ago.he said it was following every contour in the road so maybe I've just got used to it.
Does the 175 have the same steering parts as the 225?.
seeing what you all have put in here gives me hope, i've just replaced the steering arm, tre's and droplinks the car drives like crap, i actually feel like im going to crash at times....
it seems this is the bearings, my only worry is that my driverside has 2.5 deg camber, pass side 0.5. im driving to lemans tomorrow and been sat on the drive nearly crying all day due to how bad it drives, what is more worrying is that its become worse after new parts have been added above and had its tracking done after the inner steering arm and TRE replacement.
did it throw the stability control up for anyone else, under cornering mine does it and apparently the sensors are in the hub bearing?
I sell these bearings for £35+p&p and we can fit them too if required (special puller required) pm if anyone is interested ? Massive savings against the stealers
Just had mine fixed at a Renault specialist. Was told by Renault that hubs needed replacing...parts were just over £1000 then six hours labour!!!! Quick call to Four Ashes Renault, they refurbed all the bearings for £300 +vat....even valeted the car!! Mines an 06 225
Mine had same noises when turning and was very embarrasing on carparks. Took it to Four Ashes Renault Specialist Wolverhampton and i think it was £20 or £25 for a couple of turns with the spanner and the creaking and groaning was sorted. That was late 2010 and still no creaks, but now i have clicking when turning one way and knocking when turning the other.
What did you expect? The idea that people seem to have picked up on here that all the problems are limited to ph1s are only because the ph1s were older cars.
2007/56 Reg R26 with 36k on the clock & steering 'centralizes' itself to the left. Whilst I was down at k-tec I mentioned it & they had a look & said it was my tracking that was out...I had it aligned 3 weeks before and has been like it since I bought the car?
Where did you have it aligned? Only the front is adjustable toe but did they measure the rear?, on most/alot of the cars the rear axle isn't bang on so it will pull if they align it to straight factory values. Needs to have the rear offset factored in to get the wheel straight.
