Hmmm, it appears that opinions are slightly divided on this then. Or should I say, no-one is in favour of it then?

There was an article in Autocar's site a while ago saying that Renault is considering re launching a Clio Williams now that Williams F1 team is using Renault power in their cars again. Slight increase in power output maybe...?

      I agree.

And I'd rather do the same as Steve, 197 with a 250 engine. Way better IMHO.

That's what worries me - get it right, a la GTR and you wouldnt have anything else. Get it wrong like audis old r-tronic and it's tragic.

Not sure that's true tbh - just sounds like a pistonheadsism for when they're all slagging off the latest offerings to make them feel good about their old banger MX5s!!

I hate that old argument on Pistonheads. Someone always chimes in about a car being "wrong wheel drive" too, when clearly it was always going to be a FWD hatch - best part is, you look at their profiles and they're driving something like a Rav4 or a Land Rover!

Anyway, I like the look of the new Clio. My Meg is up for renewal next September so I'll definitely be test-driving a new Clio to see if I can get along with the auto box and if I could live with it every day. I love the 250 though so it's going to have to be pretty good. Otherwise I'll be keeping the 250 as there isn't really anything else on the market that takes my fancy at the moment.

Fair comment - it is best to stay open-minded about new products, not just get brainwashed by drivel, until you've tried them.

A 265 with double clutch gearbox - now tell me that wouldn't get people talking??
