Hi,
I'm looking into getting a dpf delete and remap sorted on my Rs 175 dci.
I can get a custom pipe to replace the dpf sorted locally.
My question is, how important is a K-tech or Rs Tuning map compared to the many alternative maps available elsewhere? I don't live near either (South Wales), and I can get a remap from several local places with almost identical claims and a LOT less money. How different can these maps be?
Thers no many company's that do remaps unless there is a bad write up then ull be fine a lot of folk goto rs tuning in Leeds bt that's a mega treck fr me as I'm in Scotland so I got so were near stirling to do myn car runs spot on totally changed the way the way it pulled ect
Rs tuning have a very good map for the 175. A lot of companies claim figures based on a generic map bought in from elsewhere. Rs tuning have developed their own map over the years & renaultsport are their speciality.
I know where I would go to get the best value for money & that is to Leeds. It may be a trek but it would be well worth it.
Lee
I know what you're saying, and agree but the hassle and extra cost of going to Leeds for 10ft/lbs and 5bhp doesn't seem worth it. I'll weigh it all up and decide in the next few weeks.
I've went to Leeds from Scotland for two maps. Worth every penny and the hassle.
The problem with the 175 is it is a rare car which most tunners have no experience of. I went to a local place for my first map and had nothing but problems. Any map is not cheap so why not pay for the best with someone who has lots of experience?.
I don't doubt the specialists expertise, but K-tech, who are relatively near me quoted £730 or the dpf and map!! IMO, that's too much. I can get a map and the dpf removed and replaced with a custom pipe for £400. What do Rs charge?
So with the dpf, and I'm not sure if they replace it or bore out the existing part (I don't want to do this in case of a future change in mot regs etc), its probably north of £600 and a 3 month wait. Maybe better results, but not sure it's worth it?
I'm pretty local to Leeds, so ideal for me to go, about an hours drive
HOWEVER
I've never actually paid for a re map on a car, so to me that seems a bit expensive but what do I know? But I guess on the other hand if its their specialised area then ok
I can vouch for ktec, got mine done there a week ago, cost me 660 and that was with an additional half hour to remove dpf, so may cost you less. Got some very nice gains, 210 bhp and 353 lbs ft torque. I live in Coventry so took me 2 and half hours to get there, was worth it for the drive home
