Interesting thread, i'll be careful next time i pull up at the lights next to a 182. Although i can imagine i'd get dusted off the line the way my Meg is wheel spinning these days. Can only really floor it in 2nd when already moving. I can't wait for summer to perfect standing starts.

The Clio won't have any more traction off the line than the Megane I wouldn't have thought.

I recall my 172 being a handful in first, especially when the ground is wet or even just damp.

I HAD A 172 AND HAVE TESTED THE 182 NOTHINK AT AL BETWEEN THE TO .ALSO HAD A 225 WITCH IS AND FEELS FASTER NOT MUCH BEETWEEN THEM 0-60 THO!!! BUT AFTER THAT I WOULDNT WORRY PLUS AFTER 100 IN THE 172/182 IT DOES TAKE ITS TIME WERE AS THE 225 WILL DO 150 NO PROBS!!!! NOT THAT I WOULD NO HA!HA! :twisted:

People get wrapped up in their own little world I suppose, I will have a pop at most cars just to see how I do and if I do better than I expected then I'm well chuffed and I'll talk about it. Just read the Clio sport thread and all i can say is yeah the Clio is fast, specialy the 172 cup that my mate used to have but...

I am in the situation of being able to compare like for like, My good lady owns a Clio 182 Std and yeah its quick but it is nowhere and i mean no where as quick as my Trophy, i got trounced off a SCubi Wrx in the Clio just not enough grunt and i know my Megane would have held off if not pulled away from the Wrx.

Some of the figures are quite funny that they have been quoting but i have to say when i got my megane at first i caught someone eyeing up my sport badge on the door in a Clio sport and he thought he could race me, even with the wheel spin as it was wet i could crawl away from him, only thing was the boy was a nutter an dived through traffic.

Megane not only handles much much better than a std clio sport but also has more power much more torque and i think that Clio owners should be looking at beating the likes of the Corolla T sport which i last owned, that is a much closer matched like for like than Clio Vs Megane.

if we're talking cup chassis though..... I dont think the standard 225 can really be compared to the 172 the normal 225 is more of a cruiser than a point to point tool. That said I remember following RS tunings trophy up to bolyon abbey last year and I was nowhere on the bends so those eibachs must make all the difference. I dont think the normal 225 is that far behind a 172s handing, certainly less than cliosport members would think but with eibachs on and more power the 172 starts looking like the underdog!

deffo makes the chassis feel more under control, the traction control is still on but at least you dont get that power cut coming out of bends that the ASR likes to do, I'd guess eibachs would help that anyway though

agree with that point but what i was saying was he said megane handles much much better than cliosports this is not true imo. even megane 225 with cup suspension would not be better than 172/182 maybe equal at best but not better. and obviously meg with more power would be better round a track but you would have to give the clio more power too to keep things fair :lol:
