6 Disc Changer..........need help!

1050 Views 9 Replies 6 Participants Last post by  dickie
I have a Pioneer headunit that I want to get into my 225.

It has the normal headunit and 6 disc changer underneath. Is there any way I can connect the changer to a non standard headunit? I'd rather not waste it if I am going to put my headunit in.

If I can't I may go for a double din DVD/Screen headunit instead but any advice would be appreciated. :D :D

Depends on the connector. Having had pioneer in the past and just removed my 6 changer, i'd have to say no. Unless of course somebody does an adapter, but you might aswell just get a mp3 player and some gauges or summat.

not that i know of. and if you fit a double din ie the kenwood, 1 you will hace to cut out the bar that divides the radio from the 6 disc and re fitting at a later date will not be possible and 2 the fronts cant be removed from the double din radio,
if a screen is wanted in the front go for a 7" motor screen with a built in dvd player ie kenwood again for around £600 or just the motor screen £380 and the kenwood dvd player £100 in the boot with 10 disc changer £90.
Im sure i read on the MOC that it can't be done. Might be worth having a quick look on there.
Cheers for the advice guys, looks like i'll go with the Pioneer unit i've got on its own. It just seemed a shame to waste the changer but i've got an MP3 player on the headunit anyway so no big losses.

Good point about the double din, didn't think about the removal of the face!! Not ideal with the little theiving chavs around.
Alex, let us know if you can keep the 6 cd changer and fit an after market headunit.
I'll see if i can find out the headunit I've got is this one -

So i'm guiessing if this one works then all the Pioneer ones should be compatible :D
I no its a month down the line, but was wondering if you managed to link your after market cd player with the 6 disc changer? This is what I was thinking about doing aswell...if it can be done!

Also, anyone linked their steering wheel remote with an aftermarket cd player?
Yea it can be done,

Let me get some info together and get back to you all on it.
