hey all, just a few simple questions for you. I have a 2007 R26 which is red with white alloys. What can i use to clean these alloys?? I don't want to risk using anything that could damage the finish, any suggestions?

And i am about to start looking into getting it chipped. I'm a total beginner at this game, can someone point out the best way to go? and what sort effect does it have on insurance premium etc?

And how do you load photos onto this so i can finally post something??

You can either drive to rs tuning in leeds for the map, like I do or you can buy a remote box and have the map sent by email :)
Some people use superchips and get a local dealer to do it, but as a lot of people will agree paul at rstuning is the best!
Did you buy your car from arnold clark?....think I seem one for sale when I was looking at getting one.

yeah, it was bought from arnold clark on seafield. Just managed to get the remains of their stickers off the rear window. I've not done any kind of mods to any car at all before, so a complete beginner. What sort of effect does it have to your insurance?

And it looks like billberry is the way to go! cheers!

Insurance wise without remap I was quoted £750 on comparison websites then as soon as I said it had been mapped cheapest quote was £3000
So after a lot of phoning around Adrian flux quoted me £800ish I think , do basicly phone specialist insurance companies not the everyday car comparison websites

There are a lot of Products out their and quite a few threads, post will help you out on both. Mods/detailing products.

Just have a look around using search bar and if unsure on anything just ask and let us know, plenty of people with knowledge on this site.

All the best Jacob

I like the meguiars hot rims cleaner but that may not be suitable for powercoated rims. I also like autobrites very cherry non acid cleaner its really good if you clean the car regularly but not to good on heavy soiled wheels.

insurance went up about £40 for my map and I went to rstuning for mine.

is there any decent websites where i can check the expected results of re-mapping? ie/ performance/mpg etc.

This site is probably the best. People usually put graphs up once they get a remap.

Mpg with a stage 1 map normally goes up!

Might even take you a run in mine to give you an idea...

I would say on average a rstuning map will give you around 260bhp with no other mods obviously some are higher or lower but that's car specific. mpg is normally higher after but not a great deal and let's face it we didn't buy these cars to chase mpg figures I've just given up now I don't use the car too often and I see around 20-25 mpg doing quite rubbish trips.

yeah, i don't know much about this kind of stuff atall, hence the questions. I'm averaging 29ish mpg just now, but didnt want this to go down much further if i were to get the work done. Still in 2 minds about it all, i'm loving the way it is and don't want to do it just for the sake of it if that makes any sense.
