Hi folks,
I know there's gonna be a breaking point where no one will respond to this topic anymore, but hopefully it hasn't been reached yet :roll:
I've searched and read up on the 225 both here and renaultsport.co.uk and I'm still left with the pros/cons of a FF 225 with cup pack vs a 225 Cup.
I'm gonna take an F1 for a spin next week (because I wanna test out the cup setup not because I want a numbered sticker attached to the Recaros) to see if I wanna realistically consider moving from my Clio Trophy to a 225. If I did though, apart from the creature comforts that come in the interior of the FF is there any reason to get one? I'd be getting the Recaros regardless of the situation as having them in the Trophy makes a huge difference from the FF 172 I had previously. That said I'm happy to save the money and have a basic interior and AC instead of climate control and the like. As the extras of the FF will mean it weighs more than a Cup, even with the cup setup will the FF not perform quite as well as the standard Cup or would it be so minor that I wouldn't notice?
Any views/info you owners can provide is appreciated

it all depends on if you dont mind a bit of a harsh ride on bumpy roads, i have a cup and have drove a FF when i took 1 out on the test drive and you can tell the differance.
but then do you want the extra toys that can go wrong and by looking at the posts on here cost a lot to fix if not under warranty i.e
tyre pressure monitors, and some people have had bother with climate, xenons, handsfree doors but at the end of the day we all buy whatever we want and anything and everything can go wrong.

but if your not bothered about the extra toys then go for a cup over a full fat cause theres no need to spend the xtra cash, and if you look at magazines they also say that the value of a cup after 3 years will be more than a FF (thats something that only time will tell tho)

and if your looking at installing an aftermarket stereo, STAY away from the renault upgrade cause it uses a CANBUS lead and you cant swop it out

I personally would go for the full fat with cup pack, mainly cause I like the extra toys. The only thing that would push me to the cup would be the capsium red (if it's still available)

for me i knew i wanted the cup setup (yes its that noticeable, a different car tbh) but didnt think that the extra toys were worth £1500 extra

so i ordered a cup :lol:

I bought the Cup because I wanted something much lighter, faster and more hardcore than the Beemer I swapped it for. I also wanted it for track days, which you don't need toys for!

It'll shake your teeth out on country roads, but the speed's worth it and it's bloody mustard quick on the track. So I'd say FF if you want an all-rounder but get a Cup if you fancy something a little dafter for a couple of years. After all, you're a long time dead!

got a full fat with all the toys only found out its come with a cup pack when speaking to jason so ive the best of both worlds :lol: :lol: :lol:

cup pack all the way for me, i to have owned both the FF and FF wit CP and the present model is far the better of the two.

Aclark I sure know what your talking about with the teeth shaking experience with my Trophy :wink: Definitely wouldn't wanna do that Top Gear water in lap test with any Renaultsport car thats got a cup setup!

how can you tell if you have got the cup pack or not ,i bought my 225 ex demo its got loads of stuff i dont use ie heated seats , but had i known about the cup pack i would have gone for that . does anyone know how to tell the difference :?: :?: :?:

Main visible difference on the cup pack is,

Anthracite multispoke alloys with dunlop sportmaxx 235/40/18 tyres and Drilled brake discs. I think that is all the visible stuff anyway

Does it have cup alloys and drilled discs?

If it does then its got the cup pack

If its BMOM or CMOM its a full fat

nope just normal discs and wheels, didnt realise that if you got a full fat with cup pack you got the multispoke grey wheels gutted wish had gone for that now cheers ladz

just ordered megane cup black gold cos of the fact its lighter and faster, but i wanted xenons but they don't do it as an option.

can I still get xenons fitted with it cheap or discounted anyone know?

oh ordered nine from National Car Contracts for £14201 with metallic paint inc...not bad :shock: ....they seem helpful and i couldn't get a better price.

if you order a FF with them they will do discounts on xenons if it floats anyones boat!!!!!! :lol:

snugs forget about xenons.

Just put a HID kit into the car. ONly costs £150 and is actually brighter.
