I'm currently using a 2006 Clio DCI as a runabout, and I've started to notice in 5th and 6th gear if I floor it, the revs rise gently up by about 1k, then gently drop back to where they should be. Are these signs of a worn clutch does anyone know, or is it something else?

Any suggestions? thanks in advance.

Yep that's pretty much what's happening. Any ideas what a fix is likely to cost, presumably I'll be bum-raped by a dealer :-(

I had this problem with my megane recently needed to replace the clutch plate, clutch cover and slave cylinder.... when we examined the clutch plate it was still in very good condition with loads of life left the part that failed was the cover assembly as it wasnt putting enough pressure onto the clutch so was causing it to slip.... total cost was £600 at renault specialist.

Thanks for the info folk, I'm thinking I'll live with it for now, but will consider getting it done at some point.

Mark, thanks for the offer, I'll keep it in mind, canny drive from Newcastle to Chesterfield though :)

Cheers
