I think the clip might have come loose on the pass side wheel CV joint as washing the car today the inside of the wheel appears to have grease all over it, its difficult to see on black alloys mind.

I wash the car most weekends and it wasn't there last week so has just happened

whats the best option? I know reno will tell me i need a new driveshift set up but if the boot isn't split could I refill with grease and get a new clip?

im sure others have had this issue just wondering where I can get the stuff to fix it and quickly??? so joint doesnt dry out!

will multi purpose grease do or is a high temp/ specialist one needed?

Thanks Dean

Ok thanks David, what type and size clip is needed? where did you get yours? would halfords sell them?!

at least it doesnt seem too difficult to fix caught early!

Local car spares do the cv 'clips' about £2 each plus a jar of black bearing grease is about £5.

If the boot is damaged Renault do a boot kit for around £30,don't be tempted to buy a cheap one from halfords or your local car spare. As I had loads of problems with mine, took ages to sort it out and wish I new Renault did the kit before I sorted the problem

Had a closer look at this, my cv boot is still intact and doesnt feel loose but the grease has come out, so looks like it needs re-clipping!

hopefully get it done before my MOT!

is there a specific size clip I need for the the megane?

I took mine to my mates garage and he did it for me for £20, its not worth getting your hands dirty for that.

If you get stuck Dean182 i can send you a new metal universal clip and grease....
But most good garages should have them but you will need special pliers to crimp it m8!
Dont not use cable tie as these are not strong enough to crimp the boot and will not last...
