Look great,looks like sunburst red.
I had a mk1 XR2 in that colour,never faded like todays reds.

I was also in a 1600S that did a full 360 flip and landad back on its wheels many years ago.
Just popped out the front and rear screens as it kissed the roof mid roll!

In many ways the simplicity of that old Ford 1.6 Sport (poor mans Mexico or RS2000...) has been lost forever.

No fancy driving aids, a cable throttle, simple pushrod lump, a slick gearbox, cheap parts and simple to work on.

Would teach you everything about catching oversteer.
With such a direct link from arm to steering,
old RWD cars were much easier to catch, without modern huge wheels and electronics to dampen the feel.

Modern legislation, environmental and safety issues, a general dumbing down and product cloning has a lot to answer for Mr Jeffs.

I wonder how successful a modern incarnation of the Ford Escort 1.6 Sport from a mainstream manufacturer would be? A sub £18K back to basics RWD, light weight, high performance car devoid of most of that legislative fat (and huge cost) but majoring on simplicity, feedback and driver involvement.

Shame it will never happen.
