just wondering if the megane came with a spare tyre/alloy ? i remember removing my spare from the first 172 i owned and it made a difference, when weighed up with repair kit it came to 20kg exactly on a 16" wheel with tyre. so id imagine an 18" wheel with tyre and kit would come to around 25kg which is quite a difference.. has anyone removed theirs ?

Yeah tell me about it, non standard tyre fitted to car so had to borrow dads car while mine was dangerous to drive.

good for small punctures, useless for anything like a gash which i had.

and they say to save weight, bull shat, wat does one wheel way and the tyre is full of air for god sake, if it did not fit in the spare wheel well then i would say fair enough but they fit with ease, even the bloody jack fits to.

and if you do get a £6 puncture that is easy to fix and you use the foam thats the tyre fooked, so you got to shell out £150 for a new tyre.

I think its a good idea!!!

Cos' i'm going to be mounting a big fat sub in the wheel well fibreglassed in so i still have boot space.

I'm going for a stealth install in the meg

yeah i know my old Corolla T sport had a full alloy spare wheel, was pretty handy.

I believe the spare wheel thing has mainly to do with aero dynamics under the car and comes from the clio having the pipes through the middle, seems to improve stability of the car or something?

Not sure it would effect in any way the power to weight for this car.

I can try and find out the dimension but apparently there is a 17" spare you can fit.
The aussie full fats come with a 17" spare as they are fitted with 17" wheels all round as standard anyway. Probably had to get rid of a pile of 17" wheels?

Got a 17" space saver in mine. Nice fugly and heavy red thing. I didn't want it, but for the £100 it cost I got my car months earlier so I didn't mind.
Changing it out for a full alloy and tyre as soon as I can though!

Adam, when you getting the stealth install done? Was thinking about doing one, but I think the sub I have sitting here is far too big depth wise and power wise really.
