Hey guys my name´s Andres and I live here in Panama....I currently have a Clio 172 (the 182 was never sold here), ive had it for almost 2 years now, no complaints about it well, the sky high seating position but besides that great car....I recently saw a 225 in the dealership (first one in Panama), but could not get a test drive as the car was already sold so the owner didnt want anyone driving it...the only version coming down here is the regular one, without any of the cup suspensions....so could you tell me a bit bout the car....I´ve read mag articles where they criticize the car quite a bit (for the handling) but these arent real world users, so i was hoping to get some info from people who actually live with the car.....well thanks and excuse the long post...jaja

Welcome to the site mate!

Ive never had a problem in the 1.5 years ive owned mine....alot of the journalists compare the cars to those that are better than the megane....like a M3 or RS4. but power for money the megane is the best out there. Kit wise you cant go wrong with it and in truth you wont notice any handling issues with the car as you would be used to it. I can vouch for the fact i can put my car in most situations and be able to handle it.

:)
Welcome to the site matey!
welcome along jaja, i was quite lucky as iv owned a standard 225 that was awesome and now got a 225 with cup pack on,

the first one went back with to many problems and faults with it ( friday afternoon car as they say ) but it was still a bloody good car, but i will say this the new one iv got does handle better but then i can compare the two together,

if you get the chance to go for a full fat 225 as we like to call them then go for it, still a great fun and fast car.
Welcome mate. How do you rate the Renault dealers out there?

Hello.

Hi,

I had a 2002 Clio 172 Cup before I got my Meg 225.

I wasn't even thinking of swapping the clio ( I was quite happy with it ) until I first saw a Meg 225 18months ago, but, then took one for a Test Drive and I thought it was Awesome. The power delivery, Torque, noise, Build quality, driving position etc etc did it for me, So I ordered one a week after the test drive. December 2004 picked it up.

Meg 225 not quite as Go-Kart like as the Clio - But makes it up in other areas.

I have driven and been in some pretty Fast / Nice cars and I speak highly of both the Clio 172 & Megane 225.

Hey eddie thanks a lot for that info, that was exactly what I was hoping to hear, since it looks like getting a test drive is going to be impossible...the 225 looks awesome and here in Panama for the price (which isnt exactly cheap) u cannot get anything similar performance wise....as they have stopped selling the WRX and looks like the GTI is taking forever to come.....There are only two renault dealers down here and from the same owner, i have no complaints about them...just that they dont really advertise the renaultsport models, which is stupid of them...i guess they have their reasons....

Hey guys another question....what complaints do u have about the full fat 225....without the cup packs....i know its a great car, but not everything can be great!

Hi (again),

Mines a Full Fat Meg 225, Only slight downside is its abit soft around corners (mainly round-abouts), but, day-to-day driving - No complaints.

I havn't driven, or been in a Cup Suspension Meg 225, so can't compare them, But I think, Andy Basset has owned them both.
