The Ambulance Trust PALS are asking for this information to be passed on to as many people as possible......

A national "In Case of Emergency (ICE)" campaign was launched by an East Anglian Ambulance Service paramedic in April with the support of Falklands war hero Simon Weston and in association with Vodafone's annual Life Savers Awards.

The idea is that you store the word ICE in your mobile phone address book, and against it enter the number of the person you would want to be contacted 'In Case of Emergency'. It's such a simple idea but could be really helpful in an emergency - it would save ambulance crews and hospital staff time and would ensure that a patient's loved one was contacted as soon as possible.

Here is a web link with more information:

I'm all for this as its a great idea, but why not just look for 'Home' or 'Dad Mob' or 'Mum Mob' ?

Im sure 99% of everyones mobile has them stored on there. :?

But hey ICE it is!

I agree with you Adam, as one of the people who pick up the sick/injured or just drunk its just as easy to find home or mum!

What would be more useful is if you suffered with medical problems or allergies to either use a medi alert bracelet or card. If you have a fancy new mobile that allows you to attach note to a contact put that info in there and save it as ICE!

Well said Olly!

Whether they have a card or enter it in their phone, either way, its better than having nothing at all. You'd be surprised how many people don't have mum / home in their phone book memory.
Use both! Better safe than sorry!
