The car dashboard display says that keycard battery is low even though i've just installed a new batt. Remote hands-free lock/unlock have stopped working, but manual press button lock/unlock still work.

Any ideas?

When you say new battery installed is it actually a newly purchased in date battery or one thats been lying around for a while? Wouldn't be the first time a dud has been replaced with another dud. Is your 2nd keycard working normally? At least then we can narrow problem to keycard or car.

Replacement batt was brand new, just bought from the store. Same problem with the spare keycard which is practically unused.

Anyway, i think the problem is electrical, probably a bad antenna or receiver or something. I just suddenly lost all the TPMS sensors on the right side of the car while driving just now. Will take it back to the shop for diagnosis.

Thanks!

As blackcup says, try the key in the slot + start it up, take it out and hopefully it'll lock n fold as you walk away then unlock as you walk back upto it! Fingers crossed.

As above. When you change the keycard batteries in the Megane 3 you need to start the car up with the key in,turn the engine off, take the key out and it will auto lock on its own as you walk away.

just for reference. When u replace a battery in the key u have to start the car stop in. Walk away lock, then unlock with hands free again and start car. That resets the battery key card voltage in the car. U may have to do it with both keys to reset both key voltage cause it will tell you u have flat key card but can mean the other card u are not using at that time!

Hey Redd,

I recently changed the battery in my keycard when the car started showing this "Keybard Battery Low" message. However the message remained there despite changing the battery & trying out my spare key. All locking/unlocking functions worked as they should throughout. One fine day, the message disappeared all on its own.

I guess it's just the electronics acting up...

How to Reset your key card after battery change

Hi guys, been reading the post.

Actually after changing the key card battery, you need to press any of the button on the key card 4 times next to the vehicle. Once you slot the key card in and start engine, the message will dissapear and the auto lock when you walk away will function normally.

Here is the link to Renault guide.

And to think I bought numerous batteries...
