for the 225. it said to increase 10bhp and 6hp and the wheels

heres the shpiel on it...

We now have an uprated intercooler available for the 225. It is a simple direct replacement for the original and is fitted in minutes once the front bumper is removed. We have conducted some back to back tests with the standard intercooler and we got some very good results. With an ambient outside temperature with the standard intercooler fitted the lowest inlet charge we could get out of the intercooler was 58 degrees C. On the same day with the same ambient temperature with the new intercooler fitted the highest inlet charge temperateure we could get was 38 degrees C whilst carrying out the same tests. Also with the new intercooler fitted we did several flat out runs from 30mph upto 120mph (not on the public road)and could not get the inlet temperatures over 33 degrees C. This means the new intercooler proved to be over 50% more efficiant than the standard item. We have also had the car dyno tested with the intercooler fitted and on the same day as testing our new intercooler against the standard intercooler we got the following results. Over the whole rev range power is increased with our intercooler fitted, with gains of upto 10bhp at the wheels in the mid range. Overall power at the wheels was increased by 6bhp and this was all achieved running the standard 11psi boost pressure. This intercooler is very well suited to track day cars as well as road cars and even higher gains are expected to be achieved once the boost is increased with our ecu upgrade which we hope to have available by January.

Has anyone carried out any tests on these other intercoolers yet as I would be interested to see the results. It seems they have all copied our design but we seem to be the only ones to have properly tested one on a car.

the extra power seems to be in the higher gears ie 4 5 6th gear and it pulls harder, at a test we done on it the other day we had 2 meg 225s at 100mph one with standard cooler one with uprated on, changed down from 6th to 4th and the meg with the bigger cooler pulls away from the other and will keep pulling then into 6th all the way to 155mph and end up about a car and a half in front. so i will stand by word and say that these other coolers are worth spending :?: on and with the remap going on from rs-tuning it should make a hell of a difference.

^^^ what he said, that big canister + 2 subs and boxes + amps + two headunits must add at least a further 25-30kg`s !! at least, but did both cars have the remap ? :?

if not then it may not be suprising to see the remapped one pull away intercooler or not. as far as my experience goes with FMIC`s you usually see a more consistent surge of power a slightly meatier noise and power in variying weather conditions remains more consistent to when the car was mapped and running its claimed figures under better RR`d conditions.

useful for more serious tuning also.

Hi Dave, when you say copied your design does this mean you designed and make the cooler? I was under the impression most of the coolers seen for the 225 so far are from the same company?

Hi Paul, no offence taken. We were the first company that I know of to bring out the larger intercooler. I personally did the drawings and dimensions and had the intercooler made to our spec. We also carried out extensive temperature tests with the standard intercooler and compared those to the bigger intercooler to make sure the larger one was doing what it was supposed to do. We must of done a good job as since then I have not seen a different design of intercooler for the 225 (apart from the larger version from CD).

Hi,

did anyone with this intercooler do a before/after-test on a power-absortion roller (hope that´s the right word). It would be interesting to see the difference.
Would I even mention it while driving?

I just installed mine with the help of another mexican folk with a Black FF 225 and of cours... Andy´s fitting guide
I will take my car to the dyno, hopefully in one week....I need to save some money
In an old post, somebody said, that with all the mod´s(without remap) you should be able to be arround 245-250. Extra what most of you folks have added(BOV, 2.5" exhaust) I installed a boost contoller, Blitz conic air filter, and K-tec intercoller.

As I said before, I´m still waiting for some one to develop the mapping in Mexico

Cheers folks
