I am a bit confused on what happened and if it is my fault or not.

Let me start from the beginning, on Thursday one of my dipped beam light bulbs died and I went to a main dealer to have it changed because I was short of time.

After waiting for a while they brought me the car back saying that the bulb had melted the wiring, housing and the headlight unit. What made me wonder was the fact that this happened to both sides while I asked them to change one side.

Well they then send me on my way with a refund, no dipped beams on either side and a piece of advice that I would need 2 new headlight units.

I have booked the car into another garage for them to check it out and tell me their opinion.

Could it be just bad luck or because I have a R26 bumper that they thought I had Xenon lights and tried to fit in the wrong bulb?

hmmmm, the plot thickens ....

Mine melted too I got an HID kit and the bulb slipped and melting the housing. Use a sealant to hold the bulb in it will be fine so long as the bulb hasnt damaged the housing too badly.

I went to a Renault specialist and found out that the dealer must have first gone to the wrong side and yank the wires too hard and disconnected the wiring then moved over to the other side and did the same.

It cost me £75.00 to make it right but the dealers wanted £225.00 for each headlight unit.

I think they were trying to generate a bit of work.
