Hi peoples!!

I've picked up my RS250 Cup Trophee couple of weeks ago and have to say what a fantastic car!!

But I'm not a big fan of the OEM Bi-Xenon bulbs... It seems bit dull and very yellow compared to the 8000k HIDs in my old car.

So, I'm thinking of changing the OEM Bi-Xenon bulbs, but I can not find the bulb size information anywhere on the net!

Can anyone shed some light on the OEM Bi-Xenon bulb size and if I can just replace the bulbs or if I need to replace the ballasts and relay as well??

Much appreciated!

Have you got a 250 cup or do you have the megane trophy 265?

For the 250 i believe the xenon bulbs you need are DS2.

kevr26, I have the RS250 Cup Trophee... which has Bi-Xenons (both hi and lo-beam in one bulb)... I thought D2S were lo-beam only??

steps in to help clear things up.

In Australia Renault decided to confuse people buy calling a s specked up Megane a "trophee"

Its a basically a Full Fat with the Cup Chassis, 19" wheels, Recaro's, RS monitor and Proximity. On top of these options a good number of cars in Australia were delivered with Leather optioned Recaro's, Front par sensors and Xenon's like the car above.

Its in no way a Trophy as you know it in Europe.

Sorry I dont know anything about bling light bulbs.

Any one tried changing the bi xenon D1S bulb to a more whiter/blueish bulb.
Is it a straight forward change over?
And does anyone know what watts the xenons are? 35w or 50w, etc?

I havent swapped it but have tried it in the past with other cars. With the megane it relatively simple, take the entire headlamp out and replace the bulb. But personally I would not go for any bulb above 6000k, ideally 5500k for best look and optimal lighting. If you're planning to change it buy a good branded one like osram or phillips i've seen other cheap imitations burn entire headlamp housings. And the D1S is 35W not 50W

I've always had Xenons on my old cars.. ranging from 6000k-10000k.. I like the white/blue hue of these colour temps..

For RS250, the bulb size is definitely DS1, I was going to get either 8000k or 10000k, but was advised against it. Apparently the ballasts could blow.

Am I right in saying the bulbs in the megane r 4300k? I'm think of getting 6000k bulbs. They give a more crystal diamond white effect. IMO anything above just looks quite tacky as its too much of a blue tinge to it.

Anyone know any good reasonably priced site for these kind of bulbs??

yer, the OEM is 4300k..

http://www.philipsxenon.com has 6000k D1S bulbs at $99.99 per bulb... or entire kit for $269.99

http://www.car-mod-shop.co.uk These guys seem to have D1S bulbs in different temp. Doesn't say what brand the bulbs are...

http://www.oemxenonshop.com/ these guys were the ones that suggested I shouldn't change the bulbs and risk ballasts blowing.

found a good site

http://www.hidxenonlights.com/d1s-hid-bulbs-c-661/d1s-hid-bulb-philips-p-199 phillips in 4300 or 6000k

http://www.hidxenonlights.com/d1s-hid-bulbs-c-661/d1s-d1r-hid-replacement-bulbs-p-189 unknown brand bulbs but the colour temp ranges from 3000-30000k :D
