Anyone had the gearbox replaced?

Just dropped my 225 in to dealer to have the gearbox replaced, just wondered if anyone else has had probs with the gearbox? Or am I the 1st to have a new box?

Had trouble getting reverse since I had the car. Renault supposedly repaired it but still had probs, so they said it will be replaced as it’s a sealed unit and they do not repair it. So how exactly did they 'repair' it the first time...

Think its a pritty big job so I'm stuck with a bog standard Clio for a while!

It may have been the connections from the gear stick to the gearbox that they tried to adjust. A belive the connection from the gearstick to the gearbox is not a direct connection as it is in rear wheel drive cars. In rear wheel drive cars the gearbox is mounted under the car and the gear stick connects directly. In front wheel drive cars this is no the case as the gearbox is transversly mounted.

The linkage on front wheen drive cars can somtimes cause an issue with selecting certain gears, I would imigine this is what they tried to adjust.

Let us know what happens when the box is replaced, good luck

Thanks Uncle

Got the car back and no probs so far, box feels tighter than the old one.

Renault did manage to miss a few screws then putting the bumper back on! Easley sorted though.

No surprise with them missing a few screws, i found out they did the same with mine when they replaced my xenons a few months back !!!
They must have an influx of them somewhere.
