Megane 1
Lancer Evo 0

Best bit as usual with the 225 is the look of confusion on their face! Gave him a thumbs up anyway for having a crack

oh he was trying alright, black stuff coming out of the pipes etc. I think I've determined it was a uk 260bhp one so not really surprising I was quicker given the rolling start, more power and lower weight

That's very likely!!!! 260s are a little underpowered but still very good around corners  8)

and the meggy is running 270, and yes it will pull on a 4wd car at 80mph i had the same problem in my impreza, but you make the ground back again, at over a ton!!
 I have to say that erm no............just no!!!

Read my post again, 4wd and 400/400 it's bye bye Meggy over or under a ton!!!

The best way to prove this though is at the pod. I'm afraid racing on public roads is for inadequate wannabes.

fair comments really, obviously an evo would completely muller a 225 over a standing 1/4 mile and probably in the twisties too, rolling starts on fast flowing roads are definately megane terratory though

well,

knowone cares but the fuel econ, servicing, price + tax on an Evo makes it for most a weekend car only.

the safety is greater in the megane, the looks arent as macho but hey if you wanna look like a greased up weight lifter on Baywatch thats fine buy an Evo.

power to weight is important, nothing kills accelaration more than weight. apart from 4wd trans losses

the megane cup weights 1350kg
the evo 1475kg

the megane 270hp + no translosses
the Evo 260 + trans losses

the megane would be quicker once rolling past 40mph its fact.

as for a 300hp evo well sure a bit quicker again some minor transloss i guess but how much faster ??? enough to make a 270bhp 257lbft 1350kg fwd look stupid ... err NO.

must add also of course 270bhp is the remap, with the new FMIC and exhaust on i.e like the evo boys do, some better induction 300hp is possible all at a fairly cheap price once again considering the Evo`s seriously high running costs.

i think cornering on the evo/imprezas due to awd and some cleaver diffs is amazing but thats not put to practical advantage unless a.) the roads are wet and b.) you can drive your evo/scooby to a level where you amazing tyres and suspension arent enough and the computers and 4wd have to kick in, if you cant then there isnt any real reason why an EVO couldnt be kept up with in the typical short lived confrontations you experience on UK roads, if you can then your probably driving at speeds likely to cause death and destruction

just my 2pence

have a look at the mitusbishi website at all the quality cars on there

http://www.mitsubishi-cars.co.uk/

apart from the ugly but stunning evo they have truely horrible vehicles for sale move you mouse onto the "new cars" bit and just try find something thats sexy

at least reno have some interesting and diffferent stuff i.e 182 trophy, megane F1, 225cup, trophy, V6 255 3.0 rwd, Velsatis, Scenic etc..

ohh an evo 260 is around £20,000 a megane is avaliable at £14,250 new !!! and has lots of stuff which people find usefull for day to day driving and living with i.e electric folding mirrors. in fact the full glass front rear panoramic sunroof may not be a hardcore track day feature lol but its nice to have these options as well as keyless entry cruise, climate, type pressure sensors and lots of cup holders

inadequate wannabes??? it's you that has came onto the site and preached your pumped up evo 400

which in turn i wasn't refering to in the first place, i was merely commenting on the little blast that jonathan had with the other evo... and the facts and figures point to the meggy havin the upper hand...

270 2wd meggy against a 260 4wd Evo both had a rolling start.. then it's bye bye evo up until a ton, which then becomes evo ground and should gain some road back from the meggy!!!!
anyways...

1/ how many chavs do you see driving Evo's????
2/ how many chavs do you see driving meggys?? 8)

exit is that way >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

thread tidied up by me. Think its past its sell by date now lol

I think the points been made, the fact that it provokes debate rather than just been dismissed says a lot about the megane. A family size hatch that can keep pace with an Evo is respectable whichever side of the argument your on.
