powerchip

yes , its all true
my car was the the first to be done by powerchip , so i was the bunny . they had my car for a few days and tuned it up on the dyno.
all the numbers stack up , in gear its awsome now , heaps of grunt all the way . in 4th , 5th and sixth acceleration comes in earlier and is smooth all the way.gotta be a bit carefull now under accelaration as the wheels spin very easily.
this is the second car the guys at powerchip have done for me and my previous car , beetle turbo also benefited heaps from their ecu upgrade .

Hi mate,

Just wondering what the engine temps are like now. I've heard that powerchips on turbos will bugger up the temps and screw with the mixtures??

I'd love to have a ride someday, feel free to PM me and we can hook up a night. I'm in Ringwood!

Thanks for the heads up mate. Be interested to hear your response to Dave's comments. What boost does the remap run?

Power Chip

After having had a Powerchip upgrade in a number of vehicles I have owned over the past 15 years I have never noticed any real performance gain. This may nbe different, however my vehicles have been a high presure turbo, similar to the 225.

Powerchip generally quote about 10% -15% gain in KW and Torque as an average which equates to 183 Kw. They seem to be saying they get more now.

The times quoted for acceleration are also usually small being .x seconds faster.

For the cost of the chip, usually A$1500 plus, the gain and noticable performance difference does not seem to be worth the effort.

With this chip the time to fit could be less, however if it requires a replacement chip then I have waited up to 3 days for theworks to be done.

If it really works then it may be worth the money, however the real performance gain against what an owner thinks may be somewhat different, however the charts on the dyno seem to say the chip is worthwhile.

i found this for meg225

http://www.wimmer-rst.de/index.php?p_id=renault

they're claiming 34 kw / 45 PS gain and in torque 80NM
does anybody know anything about wimmer-rst?
They're the best claims I've seen from anyone so far! Power is about what other tuners are getting but the torque is the highest I've seen. Can't imagine trying to put another 80Nm of torque to the road! In gear acceleration must be bloody scary....

Good find mate....

just bringing an old thread back up.. anyone had experence with powerchip yet? It seems it might be our only option down here in Australia :(

But the figures seem promising...

360 NM = 265.522373748 lbs

198 KW = 265.5223 HP

139.1 RWKW

Power gain of 33 KW = 44.25372 HP in total
51.21 Price/KW

What do people think, any info would be appreciated..
