Powerflow exhaust question...

835 Views 16 Replies 8 Participants Last post by  dickie
Hi Guys, I'm wanting to put a full powerflow system on my car, but the chap at powerflow is confusing me! :?

Basically I'm after what Alex had done recently...

This is part of the email sent from powerflow man...

The Price I quoted you is for a SINGLE EXIT, Twin Tailpipe. If you want a TWIN EXIT, with a Twin Tailpipe on each, this will cost you another £170 on top of the other Price.

So what is it I need to order? I just assumed that the exit and tailpipe was the same thing!

Looks to me like he has never seen a 225 in his life and thinks it is a single system!

Andy has a powerflow system on his car. Drop him a PM. I had exsessive amounts of chats with andy before going ahead with mine. I think i pissed him off a lil but we are cool....i hope :p

right dickie first thing first, have you got a 225 rear bumper,
I was just going to jigsaw out some roundish shaped holes in my rear bumper!

Nah, I have the 225 rear, just not fitted yet, however this does need to be done before I go anywhere to get an exhaust fitted. Which actually brings up another question... How do I fit a rear bumper, I heard I have to remove the rear lights, is there a guide anywhere for this?
not sure on how to remove the rear bumper, prob the only bit on my car that has not bin taken off  but you may have to take the lights of as they do tend to put a fixing bolt for the bump behind them, but they only take 2 sec to remove,

so let me put this to you, fit your 225 bumper on the car and leave your standard rear back box on the car, then go to powerflow and just get them to cut of the tail pipe bit that points to the floor and get them to make you up a new bit of pipe that feeds the holes in your new bumper (like our 225s )with 2 nice tail pipes on the end like mine or wat alex had done, this way you keep yur standard box ( no loss in performance ) will be alot cheaper and will not sound realy loud or nasty.
so two tail pipes welded to a bit of pipe welded to your back box job done. :D
So bascially what your saying is keeping the standard box/system on with some different exits sticking out the bumper?

Really wanted to increase the performance slightly, aswell as giving it a little bit more grunt at the rear to drown out the tractor noise at the front! I don't think that method would really do this... would it?

...But being a diesel, that might be the only method I can do without decreasing the performance! I need a diesel expert!
im not trying to put a downer on it but your not going to achieve a great note from the zorst by changing it, as its a diesel and is just not pushing out enough power to get a great tone,

if you want great looks then leave it and just add some 4" round or oval tail pipes to your 225 bumper and connect them to your standard box,
andy's way would be a hell of a lot cheaper. Wests put a aftermarket 'box on a 1.5dci, it made no difference to the sound what so ever. if you were to go the whole way, get a full system made up with larger diameter sections from the cat back (of even remove the cat as diesels dont require them by law! :)) this will almost certainly improve the performance and make it sound a little different. ive yet to hear a performance system on a diesel yet, although someone on mkcruise has had a system put on their tdi (name escapes me at the moment, ill look later.)

i agree on the whole system, but your lookin at alot of £s,but fir under £100 mod to make it look more like a 225 i would take option 2 :D
I had this sent to me, can't imagine it'll cost alot...

But I would prefer to spend more on a cat back system, and possibly gain a little extra performance, rather than just having a 'clip on' which serves no purpose except looks!

Does the exhaust from a 225 not fit on an ordinary megane - seems to always be a few kicking around on ebay cheapish.....
I seem to be under the impresion that they are different bore size. I am sure they will fit if you want to pay for it but an aftermarket system is what seems to be the best.
Yeah, as ado said, the bore size is different, but with a good wiggle and a good welder there shouldnt be a problem.

The only place where I saw the 225-look clip on exhaust was on german ebay, can't seem to see it there any more tho, I'll try and find another link.
