Has anyone fitted a road angle or compact version to there meg, what you think of the device?

Picked one up at the AutoSport Show the other day, grate show by the way. The live event was excellent, grate to see the face lifted 225 (F1 edition) and new clio sport.

Anyway was wondering if anyone has hardwired the angle in to the electrics? If so where you take the switched live feed from? Any other advice would be grateful.

Thanks, Olly

Hiya matey,

Is the cigarette in the megs a permanant live or is it switched off with the ignition?

If it is an off with the ignition then your laughing!

Locate the wires coming out of the back and buy some scotch clips (quick wire connection blocks) :

and an additonal cigarette lighter fitting like this one:

Cut the cigarette socket off of the additional extension piece and 'Scotch lock the live wire to the live on the back of your cars cig lighter and the same for the negative...

Once you have done this it can be pushed up into the dash and you don't then need to cut off the cig lighter on your gatso/tomtom unit as 99% of these units don't run on 12v they only use about 3v. So if you were to hard wire the unit by cutting the plug off it may go bang!

Make sure you cable tie or velcro the cig lighter down in the dash so as it doesn't vibrate about when your driving!

If you need anymore help or where to get the bits from then let me know

Cig lighter on the Meg is switched. It stays on when you turn the ignition off, but switches off when you open the door.

Thanks mate

What I had in mind, I'm fine with the electrical part it’s getting to the bloody ciggy lighter. You can guarantee I will brake at least half of the little plastic clips or what ever holds the dash in place!

Anyone got the PDF that explains how to remove some of the interior trim, the guide is no longer available for download off the meganesport site?

Going to put up with wires over the dash until my new Bluetooth car kit arrives, not worth skinning my knuckles twice trying to fit the bloody things.

Removing the bottom bit of the dash shouldn't be too much of a problem.

If you need a hand let me know!
Do the road angels work in the meggys with the windscreen being the way that it is?
I need a re-radiating aerial in mine to transmitt the signal inside, I think if you use a standad GPS antenna you can position it in the black chequered area where the rear view mirror is as it hasn't got the uv film there.

No probs with mine, but having said that I don't appear to have that blue tint to the front window. So pritty certain there is not heat reflective film to it. I do have the Cup so weather its not on that model or I've been ripped off :(
I think you only get the heat reflective screen on the full fat
as olly said i not got the blue screen any more in mine, did on the blue one but not this one,
Andy, yours is a full fat though right? just with cup pack.

Does that mean they've taken the heat reflective screen off all models, or is it taken off because you've got the cup pack.
well thats wat i thought , yes mine is a full fat wit cup pack on, maybe its to keep the weight down
yes i had to have the external areial on my road angel 2 cause of the windscreen
No probs with the screen interfering with my RA2 or my TomTom.

2004 54 Full fat with all options.
mmmm I have a Nov 55 full fat with cup pack, just bought the RA Navigator (Sat nat) but have not got the antena. I will test it tonight when I get it home.

It seems to be a different from car to car in regard to if it works through the wind screen or not!
