get some photo evidence first (before they fill it in)
then you have to get a claim form from the council i think

good luck with your claim if you go for it, they tend to be very long winded and they fill the hole b4 you know it. so take a pick of it very quick b4 you aint got a leg to stand on.aphelion said:was just giving my motor a spring clean on saturday and noticed a massive gash in the sidewall, got this on a backroad to glasgow and has totaly destroyed my tyre, having to keep in off the road as no spare until the tyre comes in to my local fitter, have any of you had run in's with councils.
I can pin point where it happened in the road and i can tell you it shook the car half to bits.
Take some photo's mate and ring the local council, stating that you want to make a claim. They will send you out a form, which you complete and send back. Along with your photo's and receipts for the tyre. I made a claim and got a cheque through within three weeks.aphelion said:was just giving my motor a spring clean on saturday and noticed a massive gash in the sidewall, got this on a backroad to glasgow and has totaly destroyed my tyre, having to keep in off the road as no spare until the tyre comes in to my local fitter, have any of you had run in's with councils.

Yipes what a thought, so i best keep it zipped until i have the picture in my possesion, then call them for the form just incase they try and stiff me?Davelee225 said:I know what you mean about taking a picture, but you will need that as evidence. Once you've taken a picture, tell the council so they are aware of it. It might be easier to park away from the corner and walk down. Take someone with you to keep an eye out for cars if your standing in the carrigeway.
Yeah it makes sense, if possible i will try and get a pic, but i have figured out where it was on route finder and i ave to say it could ave only been that, thought my suspension was gonna pop through the bonnet.Davelee225 said:The picture isn't totally essential as if the council are aware of it and have filled it in then they can't dispute it. Although a picture will show a rough depth, to aid the council determin if it was that, that damaged your tyre.
Will do cheers for advice, think i will call today picture of road bit tricky as about 50 miles away from where i work, might post up pic of dammage when i get tyre changed also.Davelee225 said:It does make a bang. Let us know how you get on.
