Question for those of you that had a 250 with RS Monitor last winter...

Can anyone confirm you get better traction on cold slippery/snowy roads better in ESP/RS Monitor snow mode or ESP standard setting? Does snow mode reduce low down torque and power more than standard ESP on?

Am curious to see what the difference is like..!

The snow mode simply reduces the throttle response. If you stick it in snow mode and then boot the pedal, guess what, the wheels will spin. The snow mode goes together with sensible driving in the winter weather. All this means, is that the pedal becomes less responsive to moment at the top end of the pedal. If you push it to the floor then the car will take off (or at least try to in you're actually in snow)

It definitely helps providing you're careful. I was driving past BMW's that were in 1st gear but going backwards in the snow. At the end of the day it isn't an answer for all snow conditions

Thanks for your comments - clearly it isn't a fail safe and driving in the snow needs the correct inputs to maximise traction.. Was curious for people's experiences. Torquey FWD drive cars are normally ok in the snow and can see how reduced throttle response would help. Look forward to trying it out... Just no time soon.

Snow mode does work quite well. In bad conditions without using it you have to constantly make tiring teeny tiny micro adjustments in the throttle which make it very easy to spinnup when going up a marginal hill etc. Snow mode makes it easy to modulate the throttle, if there is any traction available it helps find it.

Wide low profile PS2s can only do so much though..
