Just had a bit of a shock!called my local stealership to book my car for its annual mot and service and guy told me my car is due for a new timing belt.i was shocked as I told him I've only done 27.5k.he explained it should be done at 70k or every 5 years(which ever comes first)
As I have now got to find some cash before I get it done can anyone recommend?? Any one in the Nottm area I could try.dealer quoted me about £1300

Was 1300 for timing belt, MOT and service? U can get the timing belt done for around 500 on itself from a independant, renault will charge more than double this. I had my belt done on saturday just gone at BTM in birmingham for 470. Probably as good a job as your going to get anywhere.

I've just paid £1000 dead at Renault for the 5th service, MOT, cambelt and all the aux belts. They wanted nearer £1500 to start and when I said I was going to an independent, they knocked £500 off. Always worth a haggle plus 27.5k miles... bloody taxi milage that. Mine's done 8500 miles. Cheered me up no end paying a grand for a service.

Jesus!

Why didn't you go to an Independent Specialist, the price would of been literally half that amount?!

Just as a point of interest, the service schedule for my R26 states 72K miles or 6 years for timing belt and pulleys. I queried this at last visit to Renault who entered the vehicle details into their database and it concurred – 72K or 6 years ???
They claimed that the interval was revised on later models (mine is late 2007).
Thoughts........

Mine says the same but I'll be getting it done when it's 5 years old. Every specialist I've spoken to recommend it.

Here in Romania the service manual says 60000km, that means 37500miles, or 4 years. I can't understand why the diference of milage..

Mine's booked in at Diamond next week for this and a load of other jobs.

To some extent there's no simple answer on how long the belt should be on - depends on conditions and how the car is driven. Mine has done 90K 90% motorway miles over 4 years so I wasn't too bothered about about extended the mileage within reason.
