nope i dont think so

Its a Vel-satis engine with a turbo stuck on it....then highly tuned.
G
I thought that but in the Renault Brochure they say it has VVT ...
taken from the 225 press pack

An engine of generous output
This 2.0 16v turbocharged engine (F4Rt) develops
power of 165kW (225bhp) at 5,500rpm and maximum
torque of 300Nm (30.6 mkg) at 3,000rpm. To provide
great flexibility of operation, 90% of this maximum
torque is available between 2,000 and 6,000rpm..
The increases in power and torque were the result of
several changes and optimizations carried out on the
pistons, the crankshaft and the twin scroll type turbocharger. This latter benefits from a special turbine
and compressor to improve cylinder filling and reduce
response time. The fuel injectors are matched to the
greater airflow provided by the turbo. The engine is
equipped with a specially developed management
computer to optimize ease of operation.
A low-inertia twin-mass damping flywheel minimizes
excitation of the gearbox by the crankshaft.
This feature therefore improves acoustic performance
without penalizing pick-up response. The socalled
“wide face” cylinder block results in stiffer
coupling with the gearbox to the further benefit of
acoustic performance.

I was sat reading the Megane Sport Brochure in the Dealers when waiting for my car and it stated Engine 2.0 16v Turbo VVT ....Did not think it was but if they can't get it right in the brochure there is no hope ..
I heard b4 that it was VVT but cant remember when or where
is the clio 182 VVT? surely its that engine plus 40bhp from the blower?

maybe webcode might know?
phil
G
The 182 is definately VVT but i don't thiknk the 225 is ...
heheheh

well renault do 5 petrol engines on the megane......
1.4 VVT - 100 Bhp
1.6 VVT - 116 Bhp
2.0 VVT - 136 Bhp
2.0 turbo VVT - 165 Bhp
2.0T which we have - 222 Bhp

If that helps
It has to be then
cos its only blowing around 40Bhp
so 182bhp(clio VVT) + 40bhp = 222bhp
phil
mine said it did in the booklet wen i picked my new one out, im 99% sure the blue one did to,
almost all cars now have vvt on them
G
Well i didn't think it had it cause it ain't got that kick like the 182 high up the rev range but i did read it with my own eyes ....
When you say high up the revs what revs exactly
cos the engine does sound different higher up, it has more growl to it
maybe not as noticeable with the turbo
G
My 182 used to have that kick at around 5000 rpm . Bubble will be able to clarify that though ...
Will have to go for a blast tomorrow see what happens at 5krpm
G
I can't feel it like i did in the 182 and my 172 before that ...
just because they have turbo`d the 2.0 frt doesnt mean its just a jumped up 182 engine, its more advanced and developed than just knockin a turbo onto it

This is renno where talking about!
well the oil filter from a clio 1.8 16v and williams is the same so it can't have evolved too much
the turbo is pretty fluid on the 225.....open the windows and listen to the whistle from 2500 rpm.....i can vouch that nothing special happens at 5k rpm.

could get some old school turbo lag mapped in there :)
