I am looking to have a stealth install in my 225. And would like to mount 6x9 on a acoustic shelf and a removable sub in the boot.

I would like if possible to mount the amps under the front seats.

Is this possible and were would the mounting points be for the amps. Also will I need to take the power feed straight from the battery.

I am planning on using the original head unit but I doubt it has RCA outputs so I will need to reduce the speaker output feed the amp.

You could always mount them under a false floor in the boot.

Cut out a bit of mdf the dhape of your carpet, all hidden away and won't got stamped on under your seats.

Uncle, i have a stealth shelf with 6x9s, which is removable easily and a removable sub. My amp is fixed to the back seat. But can be removed if i need to.

I doubt you'd be able to mount the amp under the front seats due to the wires for the air bags etc. It would probably be more hassle taking the seats out, than just to put in the boot. You could create a false floor in the boot, as you've got the space where the spare wheel goes. Depends what your wanting to do.

I can post some pics up of my install if your interested. The power will have to come straight from the battery. All ill say is good luck trying to get the wire through  I can assist if you need it.

My other halfs peugeot has got the original headunit, without the rcs leads. We just got some RCA conversion leads, which i got for mine, until i found out it was the cabasse unit, so have now got a set lying around.

Heres some pics of my install.

My amp which is screwed to the back seat.

Bannana connection for my 6x9 for easy removal of the shelf

Sub connection, for easy removal

If your wanting to keep the original headunit, youll need these.

Speaker to RCA conversion wire:-

Noise box to reduce engine noise through the speakers and sub

My original headunit

You can pick these up really cheap of Ebay. Got some links if you want them.

Davelee225 Thanks for all the pics and info.
That is just what I want to do.
I had a Golf GTI a few years back and mounted the amp and 6x9 on the stealth shelf. Only prob I had was that the weight of the shelf was too much for the hatches gas shocks and the hatch would slowly close. I very much like you install.

Have you fed the front speakers from the amp or just the 6x9 and the sub. I am getting a facelift delivered sometime in May and am a liitle reluctant to start riping carpet and seats out to feed the power to the amp. I know I have no choice and the amp will need a good feed.

Has the cabasse unit got RCA output,

Uncle
The cabasse unit was an absolute b1tch to do, as it has no speaker cables or rca outputs in the back. In the back of the car, it has another Amp, so had to take the feeds from there.

Its really easy to feed the cables from the front to the back and you can do it without leaving a trace. Its a bit tricky getting the power cable from the car to the battery, its more fiddly than anything. My shelf just sits as it is, for that reason of the weight. Don't really use the boot that much anyway.

Where bouts in the UK are you. See if you can get yourself to the FCS in May and have a look at it a bit closer if you like and can show whats involved.
im your man for taking apart a new car

pop your location down and im sure someone local to you with a 225 will help you out,

ie down south me or round by dav etc,

i know mine is a bit extreme but to give you an idea.

Hi Dave. Here's my situation..: Dunno if youve read about it before. Have 225 with the crappy double DIN single CD plus + Stacker... promised wife not to change the original look (ie new head unit) But was considering replacing what ive got for the Cabasse..... Do you think this is a viable option? You mention in one of your posts that "they're available cheap on ebay" but not sure if you're refering to the Cabasse unit... Please let me know what you think....
dont think you can change from a standard cd radio to the cabasse thing as its on a canbus type thing with no connections like the standard one,
plus thats cheating cos you said your not going to change the head unit

Ha :?

But the Update List IS (not shouting just emphasizing) is CAN Bus.... So I thought...

PS: According to wife changing to cabasse would not qualify as changing HU (she just confirmed) Since it still "looks" renault.
As far as i am aware, you can not upgrade to the cabasse unit due to the canbus wiring. I think the speakers are also different and the cabasse will need an amp in the boot.

The best thing you can do is have a similar set up to mine, or andys !!! if you want some better sound. You can still have the original headunit if you wanted.

still looks renault  im only playing matey,
The good thing with keeping it original is that people are less likely to put a brick through your window for the stereo.
Unless you post a pic on the world wide web showing everyone, what's inside your motor. :D
