Hi all,

Just had a good look round the car after getting over the original excitement of getting it, and found a storage area on the right hand side of the boot....it has a lttle clipped flap on it.

Under the flap there is a little storage recess and what looks like a radio DIN blanking plate.......

What's this location used for??? Should there be something in there??

I am not sure. I seem to remember on the CC's with cabbase there is one fitted near where you described. I may be wrong.

Ooooo....I have an amp!!!!!

Is there anything under there I can play with, or isn't it worth the hassle dismantling the boot???

One question then, If I change my headunit some time, is it a direct replacement using the amp or do I have to 'rewire'??????? I realise I may need a loom adaptor from, say, autoleads.

Friad not mate. I have exactly the same unit. If you take it out and have a look at the back, there's only 6 wires. There are no speaker cables in the back. The cabasse unit is not a stereo was we know it. The unit runs of a canbus lead straight to the ECU. The only way to change the headunit would be to re wire the car !!!!

They don't make that well know, do they!!!!

Surely they expect people some time in the car's life to change the headunit, they should make that quite clear!!!

I was planning to fit a car kit and then use one of those ISO mute cable to channel the sound through the speakers......shafted would be a good word!!!

Yes Mate, Renault have pulled a fast one. So if your stereo goes wrong after warranty, you have to buy another one from them !!!!

You can have a sound system in your car, a bit like my install although you will have to keep the original headunit.

You'll find majority of the Renault sales team, and even the service / parts department don't really know about it either !!!!! Well they don't at the Renault dealerships near me.

As for the hands free kit mate, i think your pretty much buggered there. Although it might be worth just looking into.

What about the AUX that I have seen in the menu listings???? What's this all about??? Anyone connected to it and use it??

I'm getting desperate!!!!!

Ive not had it out with Renault as there's not that many of us with the stereo upgrade and those that have got it don't really care about upgrading / changing the headunit.

Not sure on the aux bit.

Ive sent an email to a company who specilise in Canbus systems making enquiries with the stereo.

It would seem to me that if the Cabasse unit is spec'ed, that there should be some sort of warning issued that if you wish to have after-market radio or intergrated handsfree installed either don't have it or spec the handsfree pre-wiring!!!!!

I have to agree. Ive got a handsfree kit in mine, although got the seperate speaker, which is hidden. Not got the mute facility though.

Im glad theres at least one other person that feels the same way as me !!! :twisted: :twisted:

I think they'll be a few people feeling like that. Be intertesting to see if Renault have incorporated it in the standard headunits on the new facelift !!!

Yeah, it wouldn't surprise me if the stereos on the new facelift are all canbus now.
