I have all the old audio equipment from my clio and was considering using it in the megane i just wondered if anyone had a guide or info on changing the front speakers and the tweeters? I remember it to be a nightmare in the clio with taking the dash off and everything

Thanks

Nowhere near that easy i'm afriad unless they're the direct fit pioneer replacement speakers. You can't remove the dash top so tweeters choice will have to be very size dependant, pass on how to run new wire up to them or mount them, and the woofer in the door needs to be very shallow or they won't fit without cutting the speaker rain guard which is dicey as they can leak into the door pocket with the guard fully intact if the speaker hasn't got the necessary seal on it.

I fitted focal polyglass tweeters on mine, only needed to trim some of the scruffy trim that wasn't done properly in the first place and then pushed the case in fine.
I soldered new cables to the tweeters and ran these seperately through the dashboard and down to the crossovers in the footwell. I can go into connecting it up in a bit more depth if you want. Also have pics of speakers/tweeters/crossovers if you need a clue

cheers mate, if the top of the dash doesn't come off how did you feed the wire for the tweeter down to the crossover? Do you know the maximum depth the speakers can be without cutting the rain guard, if anyone knows i may aswell measure them before i start taking things to bits.

I used a mig welder gas hose that I had from work to feed them through the holes in the dash, a flashlight and some patience!

You can see the feeder cable here - http://i273.photobucket.com/albums/jj202/danparrott/Power2.jpg

You won't get much more magnet in than that without cutting rainguard or making some speaker baffles. The doors on the Megane for audio are sh*te!! But if you've got the skills plenty can be done if you want!

I had speakers fitted a 2nd time round and made sure only the best people did it. I used Platinum In Car Audio. Tweeters are **** where they are so re mount them in the corners of the front window and recover. You get a much better sound stage and feel for them as they actually point towards your ears.
If your serious about a decent sound you need to sound deaden all panels, front rear and boot.

I have DLS Tweeters in the plastic window parts
DLS 5 1/4" in the door doing high mids
DLS 6" in the rear 1/4 pannels for low mids
DLS 12" sub and DLS amp in the boot on a 2 tear platform under the carpet out of view. This is realistic for how the car is designed (**** for sound) the size limits in the front doors don't allow you to get the bass levels required for a full bodied sound.

I'll put some pictures up if someone can tell me how!
